Il dottor Lewis Shaler e suo figlio Max stanno viaggiando in treno per Londra. Quando Max versa accidentalmente il caffè su Sarah Barwell, Lewis si offre di pagare la tintoria, e presto i due iniziano a parlare. Quando il treno si ferma, Lewis vede un uomo sui binari che apparentemente sta riparando i freni. Quando il treno si muove, vede un altro uomo che striscia sui binari. Lewis cerca il capotreno e scopre che è scomparso. Quando il treno salta una fermata, cerca di contattare il macchinista. Dopo aver parlato con i pochi passeggeri a bordo, si rendono conto che il treno non ha freni e il macchinista ha tendenze suicide.
