During the end of January and the beginings of February of 2022 we began to ride by bike, with a friend, the Chilean Carretera Austral with the idea to get to Villa O'Higgins, the southern point of the route
We started in Chinquio (Puerto Montt) to Hornopirén, where we took a ferry to Caleta Gonzalo, where after a few kilometers i saw a Pudú crossing the road. After that we continue heading south
In the road the group got bigger joining us from day 4 to Coyhaique Pietar, a Dutch living in USA, in some sections Victoria and Edlef, a Chilean-Swiss couple that were celebrating their honeymoon and with whom we hike to the Ventisquero Colgante of he Pumalín Park, and Nacho, from Santiago-Puerto Montt, which was headed to Puerto Chacabuco, whith whom we stayed in the bike shelter in Villa Amengual and traveled to Villa Mañihuales
From Coyhaique I continued alone until Villa Cerro Castillo (~117Kms) where I had some bike technical issues and because of that I had to return to Coyhaique, where I saw a huemul and its' calf
In Coyhaique I rejoined the group, which was still there, and the next day we took a car to Balmacedas' airport, where we go to Puerto Montt by plane and then to Concepción by car
In total we traveled 13 days by bike (~780 Kms) where there were very good roads, good roads, bad roads, and impossible roads (even worst if we add the wind), but it was an amazing experience
