This drill is a combination of two Stanley 803 drills made into one.
Chanel favourite Ann donated one of these drills, it had a missing handle on the drive wheel, one had been made and retro fitted from a long narrow bolt covered with a plastic sleeve. The drive wheel was also broken where the handle arm attached, this indicates it was a very well used piece of gear.

The donor drill came from the Coffs Harbour flea market and was $2AUD.
It was missing a number of parts including the outer chuck, drill bit jaws, side handle so it was a perfect donor to Ann's drill, which all parts available were used. The donor drill was in very good condition.

Restoration involved a strip down, degrease of all metal parts, paint strip of frame and drive wheel, wire brushing of all metal parts using the wire wheel and rotary tool, spray paint of frame and drive wheel in black and orange, sand back of all handles, application of maple stain and a rub in using cabinet makers paste wax and a final re-assembly.

It turned out really nice, its a bit rickety to use but will drill a hole no problems. The handles a particulary nice after having been hidden under a coat of brown paint for 50+ years.

The drill makers marks indicate - Stanley - Made in England - No 803. Research shows these were made in the 1950's onwards.

ENJOY!!!
