Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty - HBO's new series - is a semi-historical retelling of the 1980s Los Angeles Lakers season, based on a book by Jeff Perlman. Energetic and dynamic, the show has audiences split, with some saying it's incredibly entertaining and others (including Lakers top brass) threatening to sue the show for defamation.

This begs the question - how can a filmmaker make an 'ethical' biopic? How much can they twist the truth?
