This is the last in a 3 part journey to trace the footsteps of an ancient winter soltice ritual in a forest crowded with ceremonial structures.

Based on research of other Native American ritual sites in New England, we break down the Snake Cave site in Foxboro MA. Lost to time for thousands of years, this site is likely a remant of an ancient sun ceremony performed on the equinox. The fourth in the series, this episode builds on the prior research and begins the step by step journey in to an ancient ritual through the mists of time in this Ceremonial Stone Landscape (CSL).

This episode references the work of Mary Gage. Specfically, "Americ's Stonehenge Deciphered", Powwow River Books, 2006. Also, Gungywamp Decoded (2006, revised 2010) https://www.stonestructures.org/html/...

For those seeking more detail about the specific strucutures in the video, I have done deep dive videos on each type (snake effigy, linear/connected cairns/split boulder cairns/niches/enclosures), and create this playlist (in the order they appear in the episodes 28 and 29) if you want to know what they are about, and thier potential purpose:    • Episode 10- 200ft Snake Effigy with S...

These objects are in F. Gilbert Hills State Forest in Foxboro Massachusetts. They are among hundreds of other known ceremonial structural types, such as prayer seats, standing stones, effigies, stone rows, cairns, perched boulders, dolmans, enclosures, stone rings, niches, aligned boulders, and notches. #foxborough #foxboro #massachusetts #nativeamerican #neara #archeology #neolithicage #paleontology #paleolithic #ancient #ancientcivilizations #citizenscience #cairns #nature #naturalhistory #firstwoman #empathy #indigenous #experimentalarchaeology #ceremonialstonelandscape #csl
