King Midget arose after the end of WWII from the minds of two vets, and rethought the idea of a small car, or a compact-compact car, from the ground up. Not just shrinking a larger car, but how to build and sell vehicles.
Originally selling scooters and military surplus in a bimonthly catalogue, they began selling cars in kits you assembled at home and later selling completed cars shipped to your door.
Over the next 24 years King Midget remained modestly successful and profitable, until the founders sold Midget Motors to retire.
By 1970 the company was bankrupt.
But the King Midget legend lives on with a passionate fanbase and active Club, as well as support from other fans with advice and parts!
