In September we spent one night at the Schafberghotel on the Schafberg at 1780 meters above sea level. This time of year is perfect for a stay if the weather is right. It is very warm during the day and you can enjoy a wonderful early dinner on the balcony at the hotel.

The main reason for our stay was the view of the Schafbergspitze at sunset and sunrise. Both events were wonderful and due to the 360 ​​degree view, there is always a suitable object depending on the conditions.

If you stay overnight at the Schafberghotel, there is a combination ticket (the Schafbergarrangement) which includes both the car park at the valley station near Wolfgangsee, as well as the two journeys on the Schafbergbahn and the hotel accommodation including breakfast. In our opinion, for the offered price , it is highly recommended.

The hotel itself is the oldest mountain hotel in Austria and was built 30 years before the Schafbergbahn, which opened in 1893.
