Lyrics by Kurt Gerron and Martin Roman

Music from the Theresienstadt concentration camp during the Holocaust.

In the long gone years when we were children we knew what we wanted. When someone desired peace in the home or to give as a reward, a gift of our choosing, all the kids would quickly shout out "Carousel oh please Carousel!" We ride on wooden horses and are spun in circles. We want to be made dizzy before the merry-go-round come to a stop. This is a strange journey, this is an adventure without an end. We don't move away from the circle, and yet we experience much. And the music from the barrel organ will never be forgotten as long as we live. When the images have long since faded away, the melody will still sound in our ears.
