Zeno's Paradox - Achilles and the Tortoise - Physics of motion
One day a rabbit was boasting in front of a turtle about how fast he could run. Much to the rabbit’s surprise, the turtle challenged him to a race.
The rabbit gave the turtle, head start of 10 m. Suppose that the Rabbit runs at the speed of 10 m/s, such that the Rabbit reaches the turtle in 1 second.
However, by that time, the turtle which crawls at 1 m/s moves ahead by small distance. So next the Rabbit must reach this new point. But in the time, it takes the Rabbit to achieve this, the turtle crawls forward a tiny bit further.
And so on to infinity: every time that Rabbit reaches the place where the turtle was, the turtle has had enough time to get a little bit further, and so Rabbit has another run to make, and so Rabbit has an infinite number of catch ups to do before he can actually catch the tortoise, and so, he never catches the turtle.
