Internal version which incldes speed trial result etc..
The power saving 14% was so large that we have decided to monitor after her delivery.
After two years monitoring, the saving od 23% was found.
After three years from her delivery, many advantages of gate rudder were found
01.Reduction of main propeller thrust by tacking effect utilizing the oblique flow
02.The better propeller design can increase the propeller efficiency by 3-5%
03.The longer paint life can be expected due to small drift motion at the stern
04.The best engine performance can be expected by changing the rudder toe angle
05.Smaller sea margin ( the gate rudder produces more thrust in the wind and waves)
06.The speed drop due to steering is smaller than the conventional rudder ship
07.The acceleration performance from the lower speed is excellent
08. The minimum ship speed when the bow thruster is effective can be improved
09.The pivot turn and the crabbing motion can be achieved by the gate rudder
10.The safety operation can be expected by reducing the drift angle at a large helm
11.The emergency operation with one blade will support the safety operation
12.The dragging anchor can be protected by gate rudder
13.The ship motion can be reduced by the gate rudder which is 4 times larger than BK
14.Higher turning ship speed at the same turning circle with a conventional rudder
15.Easy propeller shaft withdrawal
16.The safer structure because of the smaller vibratory force from the propeller
17.The vibration in the stern part induced by the propeller and rudder can be reduced
18.The lower under water propeller emitting noise
19.Small wash due to lower propeller load
20.The better stern design can be achieved by removing the original rudder
