In this video, Ray Tarantula BFS Rod Review: Panfish BFS Fishing, Hobie-Wan Kenobi does a review of the Ray Tarantula 6ft UL BFS rod. I really like it for panfish in and around weeds. The taper is great for keeping fish pinned when they get buried in the weeds without ripping hooks from their mouths. I also like this rod for crappie as the tip is soft enough not to tear their thin mouth yet, the backbone can still control the fish.

Reel used is the kastking Zephry BFS reel. Pretty good bang for your buck BFS reel. I can honestly say that after using the Zephyr, I am now more open to the budget BFS reels. They have came a long way the past few years.

There is also a giveaway for this rod as well. Below are the rules:

The Ray Tarantula Series of rods were designed specifically for finesse presentations. This series is constructed with Ray’s new ultra-light blank that is super lightweight yet balanced in the hand, perfect for ultra-light lines and long fishing sessions. The solid graphite tip makes it possible to cast ultra lightweight lures while maintaining precise control and sensitivity. With a nice moderate fast action these bait finesse rods load fairly deep when casting and when fighting fish making them ideal for trout and panfish. These bait finesse rods are available in two lengths with the shorter 6′ rod being excellent for tight quarters like creeks and the 7′ being perfectly suited for lake, pond, and boat or kayak bfs fishing.

NOTE: After extensive testing we’ve found that the reel seat on the 6′ model is a little big for the Daiwa Alphas Air TW reel allowing for some side to side play of the reel when mounted. We suggest “beefing” up the reel feet of the Daiwa Alphas Air TW with a few thin layers of masking tape prior to mounting, or using an alternative bait finesse reel. This issue has not presented itself in further testing of the 7′ model.

All of the reels listed below have been tested and provide a proper adequate snug fit on the 6′ Tarantula Finesse Casting Rod:
Shimano Curado BFS
Shimano SLX BFS
Shimano Scorpion BFS
Shimano Aldebaran BFS (2016)
Daiwa Alphas Air Stream Custom
Kastking Zephyr ( I found mine to be slightly loose but, not like the Alphas AIR TW).
Tsurinoya Spirit Fox
Tsurinoya Dark Wolf
