Toronto Transit Commission 7900-7979 are Orion 07.501 built and delivered in 2006. The Commission awarded a contract for 330 buses, made up of 150 diesel-electric hybrid and 180 clean diesel buses to Orion in early 2005. Due to the unplanned retirement of a number of older buses, the TTC needed buses before the planned delivery date. Orion was able to deliver these 80 buses ahead of schedule. They were able to replace 9200-9249 and some GM New Looks.

These are the first Orion VII buses in the fleet to use the Cummins engine. They were also first to feature diesel particulate filters. However since they ended up being delivered before ultra low sulphur diesel (ULSD) became mandatory, they had to feature diesel oxidation catalysts instead. It is a requirement that ULSD be used with the particulate filter.

Many units entered service with bike racks already installed, recycled from buses in the retired 9200-series. All buses also had auto announcements and CCTV cameras installed, along with driver barriers in 2009.

7900-7969 are commonly found on routes 35 Jane, 36 Finch West, 37 Islington, 46 Martin Grove, 59 Maple Leaf, 60 Steeles West, 84 Sheppard West, 96 Wilson, 99 Arrow Rd, 101 Parc Downsview Park, 108 Downsview, 120 Calvington, 165 Weston Rd North, and 191 Highway 27 Rocket.
7970-7979 may be found on any route out of Queensway, including 15 Evans, 26 Dupont, 30 Lambton, 44 Kipling South, 45 Kipling, 48 Rathburn, 49 Bloor West, 50 Burnhamthorpe, 66 Prince Edward, 73 Royal York, 73 Royal York South, 80 Queensway, 110 Islington South, 111 East Mall, 112 West Mall, 123 Shorncliffe, 145 Downtown/Humber Bay Express, and 168 Symington.

All units were initially delivered to Wilson. After 76xx units began moving to Eglinton, all units were transferred to Arrow Rd. so diesel buses could be used on route 191. 7970-7979 were later moved to Queensway to increase its spare ratio.
