How to resin #liveedgeslab without! #Epoxy #resinmold? and #howto avoid epoxy leakage that usually occurs?!
For live edge #slabwood tables, a major part of beauty is because of natural shape of live edge, But #epoxying usually done by resin molds or epoxy molds .
A rectangular box for #resining and sinking those warm to touch live edges with cold glassy epoxy. then you can not touch live edges of table after pouring epoxy in epoxy mold. The resulted slab table will be covered with mass of epoxy.
So how we can avoid losing beautiful slab's live edges when we are resining(epoxy pouring)?
The solution is ONLY using epoxy resin for cracks and defects!!! not more, and leave other parts in their natural woody state, specially live edges.
But how to prevent epoxy from flowing out?
In this video, we want to show you easy ways for pouring epoxy on live edge slabs such as live edge tables, without epoxy mould.
1-When a big void is open, near the edge of slab wood
In this case, we must to make a pool and pour epoxy in.
For building its walls, the easiest and the best way is using #carpenter 's putty paste,
Easily mix white glue and saw dust to achieve this paste,
Then use it to make walls of epoxy pool.
Since such a pool is big, #wood 's air content will release to epoxy and make bubbles.
So first, we have to seal wood with 1-2 coats of thin epoxy, and dry it with heat gun.
Then pouring main amount of epoxy.
2- when a void is closed, at mid area of slab wood:
Here peripheral wood of hole or crack will act as walls. But we need a floor with no leakage.
Perhaps you think paper tape can do so, But NO!!!
Epoxy will leak from the smallest holes, And paper tape can not adhere to wood so strong,
The best way is making more strong tape by using paper and hide glue!
Hide glue is a leakage proof material, and stiffen paper.
It gels in few minutes and you can start so fast.
3- when there are numerous voids at edge and mid parts of slab wood
In this case, it is a bit hard, and needs more time to fill all with epoxy resin.
One face and all live edges of slab must be covered with cellophane wrap.
Epoxy will leak less or more, but will adhere both cellophane and wood to each other, and make good sealing for next epoxy pourings!
So, resining should be done at several times.
We can remove adhered cellophane easily, by using cup iron brush.

We hope by this guidance you be able to make more beautiful live edge tables with less epoxy consumption.
