The Environment Unit of MIER College of Education organized a webinar on E-Waste Management in collaboration with Mr. Suraj Kapoor, Regional Manager North Zone, Karo-Sambhav Private Limited. An awareness lecture on the theme “Solid Waste Management and Vermi-Composting” was also held. The event was attended by Dr. Adit Gupta, Principal and Director MIER, Mrs. Rupa Gupta, Joint Director MIER, HoD PG and UG Departments, Dr. Moolraj Sharma and Dr. Rohnika Sharma along with the faculty members and the students from different departments of the college.
Mrs. Suman Gupta, Convener Environment Unit, welcomed and introduced the resource persons to the audience. Mr. Omkar Ganu, Executive, outreach and alliances, Karo-Sambhav Private Limited, Pune was the resource person for the webinar. He comprehensively discussed about the sources and different types of E-waste, the repercussions of wrong disposal, and various effective management methods. In addition, Dr. Monika Bajaj, Deputy HoD, UG Department, in her awareness lecture on solid waste management and vermi-composting, familiarized the students with the collection, treatment, and disposal of solid waste.
At the end, students were shown the composting site of the college. They were also urged to use separate dustbins for segregation of waste into bio-degradable and non-biodegradable at their home.
The programme was jointly hosted by Ms. Barbie and Ms. Muskaan, and the formal vote of thanks was presented by Ms. Sandeep Kaur, students of B.Ed. Semester 1st.
