Converting the Summer Escapes Pool motor/filter to an Intex 2500 Gal/Hr. system purchased from Amazon.com. The Summer Escape pools are OK but their filter motors are weak (aka: JUNK!!). This pool during the first summer went through 2 motor impellers and finally replaced the motor after much deliberation with Summer Escapes-all under warranty. This new motor was received as taking the pool down for the winter. This summer, the motor lasted just under 3 months. Given the history of their motors, decided not to buy one for $54.99 + shipping. The impellers were $31.99 each! Decided to purchase and convert to a 2500 gph Intex system; took less than an hour to convert. WORKS GREAT!

UPDATE 8/15/2013: Maintenance needs and chlorine usage have decreased by about 30%. The motor has a built in very basic time so it runs 8 hours each night. WATER IS BETTER THAN EVER!!! Although I still use the paper filter, they are easier to clean, clean better and last a bit longer so the extra cost comes out in the wash or a tad bit better (Less $$ to buy them from Amazon currently $30.99 in 6 pack vs. Wal Mart $19.99 in 2 pack.

UPDATE 7/20/2017: This pump went out 2 weeks ago and I purchased the Intex 16 inch Sand Filter. This size sand filter is a bit powerful for my 18' pool but still within the min/max for this filter. It's hard to keep my pointers out since they can jump in over the pool without the ladder and needed something powerful to do a good job. It was a breeze to install since all the hoses and valves were all the same size and brand. EVERYTHING is better and less expensive than the cartridge filters. I had later said I had wished I had gone with a sand filter about a year or so after I made this conversion (which was still better by leaps and bounds than the Summer Escapes junk). The main purpose of this video was to show how I made the conversion. Once I assembled the sand filter, it was just unattach/reattach the hoses (same size and type).
