Problems both mundane and peculiar, can occur while turning even the most ordinary objects.

When woodturning goes awry, we can at least learn from from the experience. In this video we attempt to turn three quick projects showing what can be accomplished with only scrap bin treasures. However, each small woodturning project has a different problem, with the final one being downright weird.

Woodturners of all sorts have a box of scraps we can’t part with. I dare say some (most?) of us have several overflowing boxes of wood scraps. Everything in the scrap bin could be used, which is why we keep them in the first place. Each piece is in need of a project, however most of us have more pieces of wood than projects. Here are three projects I’m using to reduce the size of my stash.

In this video, I use scrap wood to make:

#1) A refrigerator magnet with a rare earth magnet
#2) A short coat peg for hanging a dog leash
#3) A bottle stopper
