If you have a large opening in your fence, it is likely you will need to construct a double door fence gate. The goal is to build the gate so it is heavy duty, however not too heavy. The weight of large fence gate doors is a primary factor leading to gate sagging over time. Using pressure treated lumber is a good choice for rot resistance however PT lumber is often heavy. In this build I use a combination to pressure treated lumber and cedar wood to create this fence gate. I also use some heavy-duty fences hinges and install some custom gate door stops. Making sure the gate doors are secure when they are hoping will really help prolong the life of a gate.
