Empress Effects ZOIA does not just offer a complicated way to use a regular multifx pedal. It gives the user a lot of options to create unique effects. I tried to explain this in three categories (Switching, Control, and Routing) with simple patches in this video. I also included examples of patches utilizing different features from these categories together.
You may be able to find some of these effects or features in other pedals (envelope tremolo or modulated pitch delay for example) but you should keep in mind that I created these to be simple to explain and understand, and it is possible to do way more than what I include in this video.
