I usually stick to Hololive or Nijisanji for corporate Vtuber covers, but I'm switching things up this time. Rin Penrose from Idol-EN was someone I discovered somewhat recently, and I was instantly hooked; she's absolutely hilarious on-stream, and worth checking out if you're into more "classy" antics. (To give you an idea, she dedicated and entire PowerPoint presentation to an Ikea shark.) More importantly though, her original song Golden Age is a bop, so I had to do my own spin on it. I was originally supposed to have it out for Rin's birthday, but I had to delay it due to some IRL stuff. Regardless, here it is now!
After playing it relatively safe with my last couple of songs, I'm willing to experiment a bit with musical style now. Specifically, I wanted to try the subgenre of Power Metal, which I haven't really dived into before but vibed with hard once I listened to enough of it. The subgenre is infamous for being super cheesy, but IMO that adds to the charm, and the medieval aesthetic many bands go for are a perfect fit for this song. Bands I especially took inspiration from include Rhapsody of Fire and Blind Guardian, which balance out the cheesiness with stellar instrumentation.
