Graphenstone is delighted and proud to have been chosen to contribute paints from our mineral purifying range, for this highly original and colourful project. The Yoruba story in Southwark is an important one which deserves wider recognition. What better way to tell it than via a mural designed by the super-talented Polly Akija

We’re excited to support the innovative Yoruba Heritage Walking Trails in Southwark, an initiative funded by the Mayor of London’s Untold Stories fund. This project highlights the rich contributions of the Yoruba community, one of the largest Nigerian ethnic groups in the UK, through interactive digital trails and vibrant murals across the borough.

Our purifying paints are used to bring life to the murals, aligning with our commitment to sustainability and community engagement. The trails feature QR codes linking to an oral history archive, offering a deep dive into the personal stories and heritage of the Yoruba people. Additionally, this initiative includes a collaboration with The Tate Modern and photographer Ruth Ossai, further celebrating the cultural impact of the Yoruba community through artistic expression.

Graphenstone is proud to be part of this project that honours Yoruba heritage and promotes sustainable practices and inclusivity in public spaces.
