For 12 seasons we followed a lovable, retired English teacher Jessica Fletcher going about her day to day life solving murders and writing novels about them in one of the most beloved tv series Murder she wrote. with 264 episodes the series run for 12 years, from 1984 to 1996.

Dame Angela Lansbury was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series every year Murder, She Wrote was on the air. That makes 12 nominations, a record in that category. However, Lansbury somehow never took home the statue. Puzzling

Dame Angela Lansbury was the fourth choice to play Jessica Fletcher. Jean Stapleton was offered the part, but turned it down, as did Doris Day.

Jessica's maiden name was MacGill, taken from Dame Angela Lansbury's real-life mother, actress Moyna Macgill.

Quiet, upper-class New England coastal towns aren’t usually known for their murder count, but Cabot Cove, Maine, is a grisly destination indeed. In fact, if you look at the amount of murders per the population, it would have the highest rate on the planet, according to BBC Radio 4. It’s estimated that in total, about two percent of the folks in Cabot Cove end up murdered.

Theres controversial fan theory as to why there are so many murders in Cabot Cove is that is that Jessica is actually a serial killer.

If you watch closely, Jessica never drives a car. The mystery writer is always seen riding a bike or taking a cab. Maybe she never got a license when she came over from Great Britain?

She’s one heck of a fashion accessory. If you're a fan of Jessica Fletcher, or Angela Lansbury for that matter, you can find some great merchandise online to show your support. There’s even an Instagram account murdershelook posting style inspirations from her outfits.
