This video shows the entire process of creating an incredibly carved sculpture by Scott and Stephanie Shangraw. It starts with Scott picking just the right log, in this case, a large Acacia log. Scott first roughs out the double ribbon design using the chainsaw, being careful to keep the yellow sap wood in place during the process. He then transfers to different grinders to finish up and smooth the sculpture. Finally he textures the inside of the sculpture using a special grinder tool. Then Stephanie does all the sanding and applying several coats of hand rubbed oil finish. Together they apply a copper patina to the textured area for a different element, making the piece really pop. Standing at over 6ft tall, this incredible double ribbon floor sculpture makes a real statement in its forever home.
