For decades, we considered János Kulka as a highly successful actor, portraying dozens of leading roles on stage and in films. However, seven and a half years ago, on April 12, 2016, he suffered a stroke, and life-saving surgery was performed on him. Initially, only his left arm moved, and he could only communicate with his eyes. Despite continuous improvement, he currently struggles with aphasia, a speech disorder resulting from organic brain damage. In 2018, he resigned from his home theater, the Katona József Theatre, and although he occasionally appeared on stage and in films after his stroke, he no longer believes he can fully return to his profession with full strength. A few months ago, in a newspaper interview, he spoke quite pessimistically about himself, his life, the distancing of former colleagues and friends, the death of Lang Györgyi, and his everyday lethargy.

However, by his side throughout, and still a significant part of his life, is his sister, the renowned pathologist professor, Janina Kulka.

This time, Friderikusz Sándor talks with the Kulka siblings.
