Stretching on the equator with more than 17,000 islands, Indonesia is home to at least 1340 ethnic groups with various languages and religions. Therefore, Indonesia's diversity is a necessity. However, unfortunately, Indonesia's diversity often ceases to be just a political narrative that often ends tragically. As the culmination of the Indonesian Pluralities series, the film "Seeking Equality in Diversity" invites us to revisit Indonesia from a different perspective: not only euphoria over this diversity, but also to understand its potential, problems, and contestations.
"Seeking Equality in Diversity" (34 minutes) is part of the “Indonesian Pluralities” series, a collaborative work between the Center for Religious and Cross-cultural Studies (CRCS) UGM, WatchdoC Documentary, and Pardee School of Global Studies, Boston University; with support from the Henry Luce Foundation.
