Now it's official! Arsenal finally reaches an agreement for the Euro 2024 star, contract details revealed! Xavi Simons breaks his silence, revealing his final decision on Arsenal's offer. And sporting director Edu Gaspar is about to do something that will leave fans furious.
Mikel Arteta is determined to strengthen Arsenal's defensive contingent in this summer transfer window.

Arsenal aims to add a left-back to their squad this summer. However, to do so, Arteta will certainly need to make room for the new signing by offloading some of his current players.

Jakub Kiwior could be moved on to create a new spot in the Arsenal squad. Meanwhile, the Gunners are also open to offers for Oleksandr Zinchenko.

In addition to needing a new option at left-back, there are arguments that the North London club could benefit from additional coverage in the central defensive areas. This will be particularly relevant if Kiwior does indeed leave the team.

Arteta is now looking to bring Riccardo Calafiori to Arsenal, which would solve two problems at once for the Spanish manager, as Calafiori can comfortably play both as a left-back and as a center-back.

Arsenal reach agreement with Riccardo Calafiori.

Calafiori has seen his stock rise dramatically in recent weeks, as he impressed for Italy at Euro 2024. While the nation had a poor tournament overall, the 22-year-old still managed to stand out with his progressive play and action-packed performances.

Now, according to journalist Nicolo Schira, reporting on X, Arsenal have reached an "agreement in principle" with the Bologna ace.

The 5-cap international is seemingly willing to join the Gunners on a five-year deal, worth around £3 million per year in wages.

The Gunners still need to strike a deal with Bologna over a transfer fee before they can make the player their own.

His arrival in North London would likely spell the end of Kiwior’s time at the club and would also mean serious competition for game time for the likes of Takehiro Tomiyasu and Jurrien Timber.

Moreover, while Calafiori is a dependable option at left-back, he has his sights set on securing a spot as one of Arsenal's center-backs. As a left-footer, he will be competing directly with Gabriel Magalhaes for a place in the starting lineup.

Considering his age, Calafiori would likely start in a rotational role within the Arsenal squad. Arteta would then focus on developing the young defender into a player with the potential to become a Premier League star.

With his speed, aggression, and physicality, Calafiori possesses all the qualities needed to become a fan favorite at Arsenal.
