I want to introduce everyone to Rubicon my new travel buddy puppo! Her name is Rubicon or Rubi for short. She is a rescue dog out of Colorado. We think she is mostly Australian Cattle dog mix with others and we guess she is a little over a year old. We know she already had puppies but unfortunately we don't know what happened to them.
Rubicon was found living at a gas station near Ft Lupton, Colorado when Soul Dog Animal Rescue found her. She was covered in mange, malnourished and begging for whatever food or scraps she could find. Soul Dog took her in as she was so sweet and gentle, thankful for any attention or food she got. She was given a temporary home in the shelter, given food, water, toys and more importantly antibiotics to help with her skin condition. They did an absolutely amazing job and I will forever be thankful to them for what they did.
I found Rubicon after a long on and off search for a dog. I was still sad from my previous dog passing (Alex who was a 13 yo Shih Tzu, I loved him very much). My friends and coworkers decided that they were going to take me to start looking for a new four legged friend, not to replace my old dog but because there are other doggos out there that need loving too. So we went online and started looking around. That's when we found Soul Dog Animal Rescue. Rubicon was not up on the website just yet but we wanted to go see. I told them they kind of dog that I was looking for and they brought out Hermosa (Rubicons old name). This dog was so sweet and gentle, she came right up to me , leaned on me and gave me those puppy dog eyes. She then, with one paw slowly reached up to give me a hug and I knew that she had picked me to be her human. I had to agree, I could tell she was going to be my new dog. She wouldn't leave my side, walking with me everywhere and leaning on me, giving me her paw.
I left that first day saying "I would think about it" but I knew I was going to come back and get her. She was so happy when I came back its like she remembered me. I filled out all the paperwork and paid the small fee and we were off! Heading to her new forever home!
She is such a good girl and it brings literal tears to my eyes to know that she was living at a gas station for who knows how long, alone and hungry with no one to love her. That all changes now my sweet girl. You will never again go hungry or feel alone. You will forever be loved until your last breathe. My sweet new girl, Rubicon!
