Music Director of the Los Angeles Opera, James Conlon, leads a master class on prominent operatic excerpts for brass instruments. This insightful session offers insight into what conductors look for when approaching operatic material and how to prepare for auditions with opera ensembles.

In Part 2, Conlon coaches NWS alum Christopher Hernacki on an excerpt from Strauss's Salome and another (Fafner) from Wagner's Siegfried. Topics include respecting rests in an audition, conveying the story through the music and understanding dynamics in both a micro and macro scale.
