Much to our surprise, we discovered the latest Redflex Halo speed and redlight photo enforcement system operating now outside of Phoenix.

We had seen them in the town of Fort Saskatchewan Alberta, but now that we’ve discovered them here that’ll save us quite a long trip to test against them with radar detectors.

So what did we do here? Of course we tested!

In this multi-pass test, we compare the relative performance of the Uniden R9 and the Valentine One Gen2. .

There are two other intersections that are running older Redflex, FMCW sources but the last one is the new Redflex Halo.

We suspect that the new Redflex halo systems are using a low power, horizontally polarized, and frequency modulated K-band, radar, which makes it extremely hard to detect

Unlike the Whistler Titan, Uniden radar detectors, and the Escort Redline 360c, Valentine Research appears content to not even attempt to identify these FMCW radar sources, which is unfortunate.

Their archaic front display,carried over from the V1 of the early 90s, doesn’t support any additional bands displays.
