বগুড়ায় আধিপত্য বিস্তারকে কেন্দ্র করে, ২ ঘণ্টার ব্যবধাণে ঘটলো দুটি হত্যাকাণ্ড। প্রথমে, প্রতিপক্ষের ধারালো অস্ত্রের আঘাতে খুন হন সদর উপজেলা স্বেচ্ছাসেবক দলের আহ্বায়ক মিজানুর রহমান। পরে, আহত অবস্থায় আটককৃত এক হামলাকারীকে হাসপাতালে নেয়া হলে; জরুরি বিভাগেই তাকে পিটিয়ে হত্যা করা হয়। ঘটনার ভিডিও ধারণের সময়, পিটিয়ে আহত করা হয় যমুনা টেলিভিশনের সিনিয়র রিপোর্টার ও ব্যুরো প্রধান মেহেরুল সুজনকে। মারধরের শিকার হন ঘটনাস্থলে থাকা আরও ৫ সাংবাদিক ।
