This is an adaption of an off- the -shelf 16 note crank organ. The hand crank drives 2 sets of leather bellows in series. The music is cut on what is called a book (just one song). The air slots are cut on folding pages of the book for differing duration of each note played. Much simpler than a steam calliope. It is running on air for this test video, but will be on steam once I get the propane tank filled.
The main organ fits in just a 14" cube and has the 3 lowest tone wooden pipes folded inside like the letter L & J. The advantage of an engine running it is stable/adjustable speed.

The maker is a Ukrainian born craftsman living in CT. He makes a range of these and this is his smallest called "OldFellow 16". This is the smallest functional one I have ever seen.

I built my own cart and styled it per the European examples, but it is a bit on the heavy side with the steam engine and boiler added. Wooden chain and sprockets transfer engine power to the hand crank shaft. Music selection is limited to MIDI files that can make a 16 note song. To my knowledge there is only 1 source in the world to adapt music and cut the music books. I do have 2 ragtime tunes for it. This is a close to a miniature working pipe organ as one can expect and I really like it. This video was a first/only cut so far. I am a machinist, so the engine part was what I love to make. Not so good with wood work as compared to metal. Improvements have since been made and can be appreciated in the more recent video. Thanks.
