One of Nepal's most beautiful but yet astonishingly less traveled hilltop settlement, Bandipur is a living, breathing gallery of Newari culture where the lifestyle is well preserved and stone-paved road is dotted with traditional architecture.

Today the village houses have evolved into modern cafes and home-stays, and the temples and monuments have been pulled back from the edge of ruin. And all thanks to its appealing 18th-century architecture, pedestrian zone and outdoor dining, it has a distinct European countryside vibe - something that will make the time come to a halt. Almost!

Historically, Bandipur was an important stop on the India–Tibet trade route for centuries until it was bypassed by the Prithvi Highway in the 1960s. While it has since turned to tourism, it still remains very much a living community, bustling with farmers and traders going about their business. It is one place that every Nepali NEEDS to visit at least once in their lifetime so that they pause to savor this discerning place and its lifestyle.
