When you hear one of Jimi’s songs, you can immediately tell it’s him playing because of this signature style. In this lesson, Ayla gets into the most foundational element of his playing: the chords.

We’ll start off by learning how to incorporate your thumb into your playing. This technique was something integral to Jimi’s style and is a great way to free up your pinky finger to play little embellishments while fretting major and minor bar chords. Once you get the hang of that, we’ll dive into some iconic guitar chords used in “Angel,” “Pati Gap,” “Castles Made of Sand,” “The Wind Cries Mary,” “Wait Until Tomorrow,” and, of course, “Little Wing.”
