After my woodturning mentor Baconsoda and I had been chatting about cordless drills and what to do with them if the battery dies , I took some time to jot down my thoughts and eventually share them with you. Needless to say these are purely my personal opinions based on what information I've been able to Google over the last year or so. Prices for replacement cells will vary over time and depending on where you live so my conclusions might not be yours.

Below are links to John and Matthias' videos about patching together old drills and battery holders into 'Frankendrills', something I'd definitely like to try someday.

Russ Veinot's channel is full of imaginative goodies associated with batteries and how to use them in ways not really thought of by the manufacturers. I think this is the vid where I first saw his home made battery adapters. Ryobi batteries are his favourites but his ideas may inspire you to do something similar with what you have available.

Finally I've also found this battery repair video by a very clever chap called Morten who has a most interesting and varied channel called My Playhouse. Check him out and let him know I sent you over.

Morten certainly knows a lot more about this stuff than I do.

So, thanks for looking in and should you try anything I suggest, for goodness sake be careful and use your noodle. By all means repair but don't do anything stupid - I've been there and it's not as much fun as it sounds.

Till next time thanks again and God's greatest blessings on you.
