Released in 2012 by Japanese gaming giant Sega, the arcade video game maimai is often referred to affectionately as a washing machine by fans, owing to its unusual shape. The game is very popular in Hong Kong, where traditional arcade-style venues, which have largely disappeared from other places, still exist. Hong Kong university student Leung Wang-hoi started playing in April 2022, enchanted by the game’s unique eight-button design. The maimai aficionado, who has since achieved a near-perfect completion score, showed Post reporter Connor Mycroft how to play maimai like a pro.
