Wastegate Turbocharger is a very simple turbocharger used in all budget cars. It works like any other regular turbocharger but it has a 'wastegate' in it. Okay what does the waste gate do?

When cruising at high speeds, when enough boost is being created by the turbo, it is necessary to regulate/control the boost. Because too much boost can harm the engine, as it cannot handle it. So the wastegate is like a bypass, that diverts exhaust gas from hitting the turbo, hence reducing the boost.
