Some manufacturers recommend to replace it every 12,000 or 15,000 miles, others longer. It also depends on how often you drive in dusty conditions, like dirt roads. Check the maintenance schedule in your owner’s manual. We prefer once a year!
This truck takes 2 filters side by side. Make sure to point the arrows on the filter the same direction as the air flow which is toward the driver side. As usual, you’ll find the link in the description for more information and can be purchased from the same link.
There's a cover held by three 7mm screws underneath the glovebox here, covering this all area.
Using the 7mm socket, take the screws out.
And take the cover down.
If you are interested on where the screws are, see the end of this video where we show how we put it back.
Here's one of the 3 screw holes that hold it up under the dashboard.
This is the filter cover held by a 7/32 bolt here. remove it with a ratchet and once it's removed... Just let that side down and unclip the cover on the other side at the top here.
and put it out of the way.
Now, the first filter can be taken off by just sliding it down.
Next, slide out the other filter.
Now, Slide in one of the new... with the arrow pointing toward the driver side.
and then push it all the way toward the firewall.
BTW, the wire harness you see hanging, is from the fan blower in which we're replacing.
but that's another video.
Then, Slide in the second new one.
And remember, the arrow pointed toward the steering wheel.
Now, place the lid back on, by first inserting it in the slot on the outside here.
And then screw the 7/32 bolt back in.
Line up the cover... and insert the three 7mm screws.
one is all the way to the right here. Another is in the middle, and the one which is hard to get to, is on the left, in front of the center console here.
