1966 ford mustang has been sitting awhile ... and now it won't start. it cranks, but won't fire. it is getting gas, but it has no spark. i did previously try a different coil, but that didn't help. it's an inline six cylinder 200, pretty basic setup. there's really only a few things it could be...so i ordered everything else i thought i might need - new condenser, points, voltage regulator and starter solenoid. also bought a set of new autolite 45 spark plugs.
so i installed the new spark plugs, then installed the new condenser. brief delay because the battery was dead. re-charged the battery. still wouldn't fire. replaced the voltage regulator next, partially because it visibly looked so terrible ... definitely suspect. and that did the trick! fired right up ... and sounded pretty good even!
voltage regulator ... i should have known! i know i've replaced that more than once in the past.
so i'm just going to hang on to the starter solenoid for now (because i know i've changed a few of those in the past as well) and i may or may not put this new point on, depending on how it runs. but i've still gotta put air in the tires and move the jeep out of the way before i can do that (and the jeep's intake manifold, exhaust manifold, carburetor, etc are underneath that blue tarp if that adds any perspective)
