The eco mode used in this car reduces fuel consumption because it is designed in such a way that the internal combustion engine turns on as little as possible. This is done in such a way that in eco mode the accelerator pedal acts like a delay, and the efficiency of ventilation, heating and air conditioning is also reduced. The entire drive system in this mode is tuned and set to recover as much energy as possible. However, do not have someone who has contact with this mode for the first time and habits of driving a "conventional" car will be slightly surprised that in this mode the fuel consumption is sometimes greater than without using eco mode.
Driving in this mode and taking full advantage of it requires changing driving habits, using the accelerator pedal and predicting road conditions, and what drivers in Poland underestimate is compliance with road traffic regulations, especially driving at speeds specified by signs and regulations.
From my own experience, I can say that driving at the prescribed speeds guarantees lower fuel consumption and better use of the entire hybrid system.
