This video shows the process of procuring wood blanks from a log and preparing them for Fan-Carving. A fresh tree 10 to 12-inches in diameter with straight-grain and long-fibers is necessary to make fan birds and other 3-dimensional creations. Tools used: chain saw, hatchet, screwdriver, mallet and knife or gouge.
