All joking aside, even a bowl this big would probably only hold a light snack for the average cow or horse. If this was a utility piece it would hold enough salad for a sizable crew.

However, this big ash bowl is not meant to be a serving bowl. It’s a decorative bowl and has been shaped and finished accordingly. The wild figure and knot look good, but can cause problems in a bowl subject to repeated washing.

The dry bowl blank this wooden bowl is made from was originally cut over 12 years ago. I got a call at the last minute that a friend was having a giant and partially dead ash tree removed to make way for a deck. Fortunately, I arrived in time to save that magnificent log from being hacked into firewood.
