With a population of almost 6 million people currently, Singapore must be able to meet national water needs of 430 million gallons every day.
However, even though it has made various efforts to overcome this independently, Singapore still has to rely on half of its national water needs from Malaysia as the main source. Can't let go of a dependency that has lasted almost a century. Half of Singapore's total water needs currently still depend on Malaysia.
Limited water resources do not significantly threaten national existence and security. However, dependence on Malaysia as its main water source poses risks to Singapore's state security. Because the possibility of cutting off water delivery could cause damage to many other sectors.
