Based out of Los Angeles, The Groovaloos broke onto the LA scene in 1999. Their celebration of freestyle and unique combination of multiple street styles ignited the dance community. The Groovaloos quickly became one of the most influential hip hop groups both commercially and in the underground scene, changing the landscape for street dance culture in media, live, tv and film, including members who went on to spearhead iconic groups such as JabbaWockeez, SuperCr3w, Beatfreaks and Team iLuminate.

After multiple performances on The Wayne Brady Show, The Groovaloos became the first featured dance group on So You Think You Can Dance, brought in as special guests for the season finale of the premiere season. They were invited back for an encore performance along with featured appearances on Ellen, Jimmy Fallon, and a spotlight performance on Dancing with the Stars. SYTYCD Producer Nigel Lythgoe chose The Groovaloos to represent America on NBC’s Olympic scale international competition, "Superstars of Dance" where The Groovaloos brought home the Grand Championship.

In LA, where film and TV reign, GROOVALOO was created by Bradley Rapier and Danny Cistone in collaboration with The Groovaloos. Developed in Los Angeles in 2003 at El Portal Theater, GROOVALOO premiered at the Falcon Theater in 2005 breaking their box office record, and continued on to Calstate LA in 2007, The Orange County Performing Arts Center in 2008, and the Joyce Theater in 2009 before debuting Off Broadway at Union Square Theatre and rolling into a twenty five city national tour between 2009-2011.

Based on the award-winning troupe’s true-to-life experiences, driven by jaw-dropping displays of physical ability, a vibrant musical score and powerful spoken word poetry, the intertwined stories of GROOVALOO chronicle the struggles, hopes and triumphs of the cast as they discover the true meaning of family and what it means to be "in the circle”. From ballerinas to b-boys, the electrifying production has inspired audiences from all walks of life to celebrate their passion and purpose. In the process GROOVALOO reveals the heart and soul behind this incredible art form. GROOVALOO went from development across southern California where it broke box office records, to play at The Joyce, Off Broadway at Union Square Theater, and a national tour.
