Liverpool's Arne Slot shares his thoughts with Darwin Nunez on a possible Barcelona move.

Arne Slot has assured Darwin Nunez that he will be a key player for Liverpool next season. Nunez faced frustration towards the end of the last season, going ten games without a goal and clashing with the Anfield fans. In response, he deleted all posts of himself in a Liverpool kit from his Instagram account, sparking rumors of a potential move to Barcelona.
However, Barcelona currently lacks the funds to sign Nunez, and Slot spoke to him during the Copa America, where Nunez scored twice in his last three matches.
"I just told him that, based on what I saw, he played in multiple positions and which position I envision for him," said Slot.
"I believe he will fit well into our playing style because I like him. I’ve already told him he’s one of the players I’ve spoken to. He might have struggled with finishing chances, but he often found himself in those positions. I think he could fit in really well, though it’s normal at a club like this to have many players who could play in his position."
Slot emphasized that Nunez's role is now clear, both to him and to the player. Slot envisions Nunez fitting into his attacking strategy for Liverpool and reminisced about his first live experience of the team in February 2017 when they defeated Tottenham 2-0 at Anfield.
Liverpool's victory over Tottenham ended a five-game winless streak and helped them qualify for the Champions League under Klopp for the first time. Slot was impressed by the strong connection between the team and its supporters.
"I got a feel for the club," he said. "It was before they won the Premier League and Champions League under Jurgen. Even then, everyone was positive despite not winning trophies."
Slot aims to continue Klopp’s success and bring the team back to the top of the league. "Our goal should be to win and be at the top of the league," he said. "We want to be there for all 38 games. But reaching that position requires a lot of hard work every day to continually improve. That’s what we need to do."
