See how to build a PET bottle rocket based on João Canale's model from MOBFOG, which is the Brazilian Rocket Show. It was necessary to use two PET soda bottles, preferably smooth, as well as 20 mm PVC pipes to assemble the launch pad. For the launch, we went to Jequitibá Park on the border between São Paulo and Cotia.
When the rocket is pressurized and launched and pushes the water back, the water reacts by pushing the rocket forward and that's what we call Newton's third law, or even the Law of Action and Reaction. Two things are important to give flight stability to the rocket, the forward displacement of the center of mass and the backward displacement of the center of pressure.
Our rocket reached the milestone of 96 m range, pressurizing with only 50 PSI and 0.5 L of water.
