Ruse (Русе [ˈrusɛ]) also known as little Vienna which use to be the second largest city, is now the fifth largest city in Bulgaria.
Ruse is in the northeastern part of the country, on the right bank of the Danube, which shares border with Romania, Giurgiu Nord(a city in Romania) to be precise.
Thanks to its location and its railway and Danube Bridge,it is the most significant Bulgarian river port, serving an important part of the international trade of the country. Ruse has a rich history dating back to the Roman Empire, when it was known as Sexaginta Prista.
I didn’t know much about this city and it wasn’t part of my plans when visiting Bulgaria but here we are 😊
