These days most of the investors and traders keep on whining about the charges they have to pay to their broker in return for its services. Be it brokerage, Account maintenance charges (AMC), Account opening charges or anything else, it never feels good to pay out from your profits and feels terrible if you didn’t make some.

In this video, we will explain to you how much money a broker pays to get one client, what is the cost of getting one client in the stock market and expenses of a stock broker.

We can’t deny the fact that stock brokers make our trading life easier, and here you will understand how a broker spends money to make you trade more and generate revenue for itself through brokerage.

The major expense is running ads to get more clients for generating more brokerage-revenue.

Since everyone lands at Google for browsing and searching, stock brokers spend money to get ranked in the Google search under different keywords, such as - best demat account in India, best stock broker in India, how to invest in the stock market, best trading app in India.

You must have noticed that the results in the Google search are categorised with some of them being Ads, which are paid, while rest of the results rank because of Search Engine Optimization (SEO). The latter one also incurs the cost of creating content which will be ranked.

First four advertised results are paid and Google organises bidding for the positions from 1st to 4th. And afterwards the stockbroker pays money on a per-click basis. As per our research, the cost of acquiring a client from a single keyword / link could be ₹800 to ₹3000, However the conversion rate is also above 10%.

Another source is social media, which is also paid whether the broker runs ads or optimises its social media with the help of a team. In this, the money is charged from the stockbroker according to the reach of the post.

Although it is cheaper than Google ads, the conversion rate of social media is also less than 10%.

According to a survey, clients that come from social media are less productive for the brokers since they trade less.

With the above conventions, it is clear that a stock broker only makes profit after recovering the cost of acquiring all the clients. Along with the acquisition cost, the broker incurs several other expenses as well for providing you services. Such as - Trading platform, customer support, helping to learn stock market, trading in different products and tips etc.

So the next time you are charged with brokerage, please don’t complain about it. And if your broker only tries to make brokerage and doesn’t care about your profits, then immediately close your demat account with such a broker.

We tried to do something different and serve our with worthy content so please provide your valuable feedback.
