The Aranese sheep is an indigenous breed of the Aran Valley, on the northern slope of the Pyrenees. It is a breed raised for the production of meat and wool.
There are several layers within the morphotype of the breed: white, black, berrenda, "zorrata" and others. Almost all sheeps have horns.
These sheep are related to the Tarasconian race and probably in the past they influenced some horned ecotypes of the Ripollese breed.
