The cruise ship "Tikhiy Don" was built in 1977 according to project 301 in Germany. It is worth noting that the ship has not changed its name since its construction to the present day. After a global refurbishment in the 2004-2005 inter-navigation period, interiors of cabins and public areas were changed in Romania, but the cabins on the lower deck were not refurbished. An elevator appeared on the ship (instead of a gangway in the bow span).

After modernization, the ship worked exclusively with foreign tourists. The Navigation in 2023 was the first full-fledged navigation, when the ship, after modernization, took on board Russian river travelers.
