song is growltiger's last stand from cats the musical. its a song that was removed from the official cut and taken out of most subsequent live performances. most places ive looked cant agree whether it was because the actor was unable to continue the role or because the parts about the siamese cats was too racist to perform 😭 - some of the words used to describe the Siamese cats, and some of the costume design choices. unfortunate either way. I picked the song before I became aware of the songs controversy so now I seem to have a pretty unfortunate video on my yt channel, sad. I put too much effort into this thing not to post it tho so whatever. the designs of the cats in this video are based directly on the musical, tigerstar is based on a mixture of the rum tum tugger, growltiger and macavity, blackfoot is based on mr mistoffelees, darkstripe is based more closely on the female cats like demeter and jellylorum, sasha is based on victoria and cassandra, and scourge and the bloodclan cats are based directly on the costuming of the siamese cats in the cut growltiger sequence of the musical.
i based bloodclan on the siamese as an aesthetic and thematic choice, tho i am aware that the costuming choices of the siamese was a part of the reason the sequence was criticised, so i tried my best to remove all of the racially charged elements i could. im realising too late now that i gave all of the bloodclan cats slanted eyes lol but that was to evoke a sort of mysterious cat-like menacing sort of look that cats often have so im hoping thats how it comes across.
anyway thats about all ive got to say!! ive been working on this on and off for about a year now so i hope everyone likes it! its definitely not my best work but im just happy to have it done with.
