In Quran it is said in Surah az zariyat, Chapter 51 verse 49 that:

“and we have made pairs of everything that you may reflect.”

Being a biologist, when we first read about different means of reproduction, including asexual mode of reproduction, then we become confused with this concept. So here we are going to discuss that having partner doesn't mean that the organism will always be involved in sexual reproduction to produce offsprings. This verse only refers to the existence of different partners for every organism. Let's discuss the examples.

So, if we talk about bacteria, it's true that they mostly undergo binary fission to produce offspring or daughter cells, but it doesn't mean that their partner doesn't exist. Some of the bacteria may undergo the process of conjugation. In the process of conjugation, one bacterium containing F. Pilus is considered donor and the other bacterium lacking F. Pilus receives F. Plasmid and act as recipient. And here we can clearly observed that two partners are involved in transfer of genes from one to another. Similarly, transformation and transductions are also common processes among bacteria where genes are transferred from one bacterium to another. In every other organism, the partner that transfer gene is considered male, while the partner that receive gene is considered female. If we do not categorize bacteria as a male and female, even then if two cells are involved in genetic or DNA transfer, then they can be considered partner.

Now we see how this happens in plants. The asexual reproduction in plants is also similar. The asexual reproduction in plants is called apomixis. But the researchers also said that sometime it is replaced by sexual reproduction, which means that male partners were also present for that plant. Even some plants reproduce asexually for one generation means sporophytic generation and sexually for the next generation that is called gametophytic generation, where in that case their whole life cycle is completed after completion of two generations.
At the end, we will discuss an example of animal or insect called honeybee. Honeybee usually undergrow the process of parthenogenesis. So, let's take this example. The bees have both male and female partners. The males are called drones. If male partner is not involved during reproduction, then the offspring will be male or drone. And it is an example of parthenogenesis, while if both partners are involved in reproduction, then the offspring will be female. So here we can clearly see that the both partners exist, but they not always involved in sexual reproduction. And absence of sexual reproduction doesn't mean that the other partner doesn't exist.
So, all these examples are agreed with the Quranic verse. However, we still need further investigations in this regard
